will a dana 44 rear carrier out of a ditch witch

I think that's going to be a tough one to answer. It would have to accept 30 spline axles for one thing. You May just have to find out for yourself on this deal.
 
I pulled two 5.38 sets from a junked ditch witch along with the trak lock carriers. They are 30 spine and just regular 5.38 ring and pinions. After all how many miles can they have on them:smile5:
