Why no spark?

Climb On!

Sorry, I'm knowingly posting this prematurely, the Scout died last night and I haven't been able to troubleshoot it yet...and I'm off to work.

So I installed a Holley electric choke kit for my 7448 and after the install it started right up. I let it run for a while, then after about 5 min it just cut off. I thought maybe it just needed a choke adjustment and let it cool down. Now it wont start. Just cranks but doesn't fire.

I made sure to connect power to a keyed power source and not the coil.

Can some give me some ideas to step through in troubleshooting the problem?

We'll need to know more about the ignition system on this rig. As with all things, start with the basics. Is there an adequate supply of fresh fuel reaching the carb? Before jumping to the conclusion that there is no spark, this needs to be verified.

So have you pulled a plug boot and grounded it while cranking the starter to see if any sparks are present? How about the fuel question? Do you see two good squirts when looking down into the carb while blipping the throttle? When you had the engine last running, were you watching the choke plate to see that it was opening gradually as the engine warmed? The choke plate must be able to travel its full range from closed to open and vice/versa without binding up at any point.

Well, disaster avoided. Turns out a had a pinched fuel hose that eventually kinked completely...no fuel. Thanks for the help!
