Which 44's?

I have a'66 Scout 800 and want to know what year Scout II Dana 44's to get? Are they all the same or are certain years better than others? Thanks.
 
74'-80' Scout II's. All of them were the same with the exception of 1980 which had 2 degrees castor built in.
 
Which 44's had the 2° caster built in, front or rear? Is that negative or positive? Would make sense, to me, if we're just talking front axle with negative caster. :icon_eh:
 
Caster is a front suspension setup / adjustment measurement.

It "aids" a vehicle going straight down the road. And, it "aids" steering / wheel "return" when making a turn.

Caster is positive -- 2 degrees is the stock measurement / setting.

Negative caster will cause "steering problems" / "wandering".

You can read many posts here and on the bb about the effects of negative caster when people do "lifts" / SOA.

Jeff has documented the changes he has made on some of the "builds" he has posted on this site.
