whens the next trip.

I noticed the "cheese" ran great at hollister even on off cambered stuff, but when he gets up around 7,000 it starts to act up. I think he has the edelbrock 1406 which allows changes to the metering rod real easy, but a bit more work to drop down a few sizes on the jets.

I have the stock 2bbl holly which I have been running since I've owned the cheese. It has only given me trouble twice.

Once when I could not go slow enough (rock crawling before I had the t-19 wide). On that trip the carb was loading up because I was braking to much and the idle was just way to low (choking it out). This has never happened again and it has been "years" since that trip.

The other time was on the rubicon where it would not start up again after stalling her out. I would have to "prime" the carb as it was getting vapor lock. I re-routed my fuel line so it is no longer resting along the intake in hopes that will resolve the issue. I have not experienced this particular issue since, however I have not done any rock crawling on an extremely hot day so I do not know if it will happen again or not.

Generally speaking I love the stock holly 2bbl as it never misses a beat on hill climbs and off camber stuff and has performed very well at altitude and on most trips with a few minor exceptions as mentioned.

Thanks for the clarification on the carb

I'm always amazed at how good yours runs. You get decent mpg and drive like 70 mph too.

How about hollister, easter weekend, I'm in, rock tractor's in. I'm going to be checking the hollister web site is just a second to make sure there is no other event that would collide with us going out for a couple of days.

Any other suggestions for easter weekend?

I'm not exactly sure what it means but on the hollister calendar it shows:

April 10-12 gp track
upper ranch ama national scramble
presented by worcs racing
full closure.
Public contact: welcome to worcs - world off road championship series Or (435) 635-1597

I think it means area 5 and all the wheeling in that area is out. The ranger office doesn't open till 9:00 am and I'll give them a call.

The dates for the event in frank raines is May 2 & 3 and is open to everyone. I talked to him today and he said he would love to have a bunch of wheelers there as well.

Mike and I will be going up to the rubicon on easter weekend. We are going to try and camp at airport flats on Friday night and then Saturday go in as far as we can. Then make our way back out to airport flats and camp Saturday night or whatever. Some of you local guys - I'm talking to you Craig - you could probably come up sat morn and be back home sat night. I haven't been in on this route before. We will be going in at wentworth springs.

See you there!

What time Friday night do you think you will be up there? I'm thinking of taking Friday off. Are you guys going through georgetown or up ice house road?

I have Friday off but Mike has to work so he's coming after he gets home. I'll probably go up earlier in the day and try to get there around 4:00 or 5:00 pm.

I will be going up ice house road to get to the campground. If anyone is in that area it would be nice if you would check out the campground and see if we can get our tow rigs in.

Ive run the dusy several times, and am going back in August. (me and a few long time buddies are running dusy, fordyce and con back to back to back. Its our own little mini ultimate adventure). Its a beautiful trail, but long and relentless. Not hard per se, just long. A few tough obstacles depending on skill and rig. Nice camping, big skeeters in early season (like mentioned, its high and late snow melt means late skeeters) good lake fishing and swimming, some incredible views, you get up to the tree line at about 10.5k feet. Its a must do imo, but there are loooong sections of winding through trees and hitting a softball sized rock every ten or so feet, so trail speeds are kept down. Sorta like the flat area on fordyce. Also, if something does brake that you dont have, its a long walk back to the staging area, and then another long walk to a parts store if you didnt tow. There was a ranger who drove a newer Jeep that seemed like a nice guy, I think he hangs out on pbb. When I towed, I stored the tow rig at the lake, and drove the 30 min. To courtright reservoir trailhead. Its a cool trail

raines is open, but the reekbed is not. I dont believe there is another rock in the whole park aside from the creek bed. There is a good mudhole if you are in to that.

Ive heard cow mountain has done some work on that waterfall trail. Supposed to be pretty fun.

Hwy 4 should have some fun stuff early season.
