Inquiring about registry #276. On scoutregistry.com(register International Harvester scouts - scoutregistry.com ) long story short is I have been waiting to own this vehicle for 20 yrs. Finally took ownership 2 mo. Ago. Specs are listed on my registry. I have all, and I mean all the original paper work from the dealers order sheet, the original LST, the original window sticker, all the original tags, warrantees and manuals. The vehicle still has the original paint and 67,500 original miles. From what I understand, the 71`s are kind of rare, and by what I`ve seen, " or not so much seen" for sale and on the internet and lack of owners in the forums. I kind of think there is some truth to rarity of this model. All's that I am looking for is what the real market value is on my rig.
Reason being 2 weeks after I took ownership in got side swiped when it was sitting in front of my house, insurance est. To get it fixed was $2700.00. I told the offenders ins. Company that I was planning on filing a diminished value claim because I believe that the body shop will not be able to recreate an acceptable match to the existing original paint. Now they want to get it appraised to see if they are going to total the vehicle.
Can anybody in the know give me a fair market value on this rig. Thanks in advance. Rd

I know that John Glancy can give you an appraisal. I don't know if Jeff Ismail does it nor not.

You are going to need a written appraisal not just some one on
a web site said it is worth x amount. It can get testy when the offenders insurance want to settle out as cheap as they can

Why would you want to match the existing paint ? Get the whole truck painted. Add that to your estimate, prolly another 2-3 k $$, then you;ll be in the ball park w/ins., co. You gotta stand up to them ( ins. Co's ) or they 'll stick in you an break it off ! Once they find out how easy you are ! Sry bout all that,but I just went thru this with my car trailer ! Jeff

They're pretty ball park, but well within the range I've been using for laying out the dough; though they are a bit optimistic. I'd also check with haggerty ins for value well as kelley's and hemmings.

So I got my Scout appraised..... $10,450.00
was what the guy came up with. That's right in the ballpark of what I thought it was worth. So all in all I'm pretty happy.
