what carpet to choose?

After clearing the issue with a new softtop it's time to fornew the carpet inside.

On rockauto there is the choice between aac's cutpile(+mass back), vinyl or 'essex'.

I am not familiar with acc products and thinking of buying the first option (ie cutpile+mass back), most expensive=best?

Any comments or other tips?

Thanx.

We are a dealer for acc and will offer the same price(or sometimes better)than what other dealers will offer. I have not used the essex but have used the other two. I did not like the overall fitment of the vinyl and would not recommend buying it. The carpet kits however are very nice and fit fairly well.

Thanx Jeff.

I will get back to you about the softtop and carpet, want both but need to balance my account first...

The acc kit is good, but not perfect. See pics below. But overall, I am happy there still exists a kit for scouts at all. Otherwise, we'd be making them from scratch with raw carpet. I don't have experience with the vinyl. If you want to make it more durable, consider spray-on bed liner. For my truck, the carpet was the way to go. Just be prepared to do a little extra.

For instance, I had to cut the piece above the shifter opening to get the kit to settle in the foot-well corners. I even left it out in the sun for a few hours to get it pliable. If I pulled it tight into the foot -wells, it left gaps too wide along the doors. After patching the the gap (you'll have to cut the shifter hole opening, so there is some scrap material to use), you can't even notice.
If you want more pics of the finished job, I'll post up.

The acc kit is the only one I know of, so its really the only choice. It looks nice, and saves tons of time over doing one with raw carpet.

The aluminum backed sound blocker was something I bought separately. It doesn't come with the kit.

I reckon there is some cutting involved to make it to size. Will consider the bedliner or some other product, I am very lucky to have one that is -almost- free for rust and tend to keep it that way. :icon_wink:

I have found acc to be hit or miss. I've installed a couple of their kits and one fit great, the other was a little disappointing.

I have the acc vynl kit. I'm not happy with it and will probably get rid of it and buy carpet.

We tried the acc vinyl kit once and did not like it either. For a front rubber mat I suggest the ones we sell that we get from Scout light line. Although it too requires trimming it is a much better fit and much heavier material. The down side is a rear cargo mat is not available.

If you do decide to go with a carpet kit we are a acc dealer and normally can meet or beat most any ones pricing.
