Twin stick 300

Truck mechanic

I twin sticked a Dana 300 over the winter and got it installed. Works well except under a load in low the rear control stick wants to pop out of gear when I lift off the throttle. I did pull the interlock pills but left the detents in place. Any idears why just the rear is poping out of gear ?
Thanx for your help

You need to either replace the spring for the detent balls, notch the shaft so the detent balls will hold it in place, or both.

A bungie cord can help hold the lever in place for a short term solution.

Yep, what Mike said.

With the twin stick, it seems the detentes need to be stronger than with a single stick. And iirc originally one detente is a little softer than the other.

On mine the front can kick out on occasion on easy decent. I've learned to just put occasional pressure on it when I'm in something that I know I don't want it to kick out on. Most of the time its just a "pop" then push it right back in.

Thanx guys, I thought I did a lot of reserch before I did the rebuild and twin stick, wish I found this info before it was put back in the truck. Oh well my bad, it will come back out in the winter.
Thanx again paul
