turn signal, brake light ground

1979 Scout II, 304 v8, 727 trans.

The driver side turn signal works but is very dim. The brake light on that side is also dim. I grounded the bulb housing and the light gets bright. I hate to add a ground wire. I would prefer to repair or clean the original ground.

Where is the ground for the brake/ rear turn signals located. There is a ground screw behind each tail light but the brake light wires don't seem to go to it. I cleaned them anyway.

I found a sticky for wiring diagrams but I didn't see one for my Scout. I have a diagram for a 73 Scout II. Would the rear lighting portion be the same?

Thank you

So I found the problem. One of the aftermarket bulb holders I had in the rear had a loose ground. In all my search for problems it started working! Then I went back wiggling the wires to find out what I did. Who'da thought a "new" part would be the problem!!

I would still like to have a circuit diagram and to know where the grounds are. Thanks!

I kind of thought it might have been the socket itself. I doubt I have any diagrams on hand for the 78-79 yrs. Most of my stuff is pre-75. And they have the metal buckets for both rear light fixtures. That have grounding wire that gets attached to body inside the pocket where the fixture mounts
