Got the wild idea to shoot my truck a different color. Since this is my trail rig I didn't want to spend much, and also wanted something that I could touch up myself after a run. So decided a rattle can job was the way to go. Tonight I started with the hood, used two cans of rustoleum orange. I'm partial to orange since my mosquito abatement truck started its life that color. Of course there was some orange peel, but considering the color I can live with it. Beats the hell out of the dirt color that was/is on it. As far as prep, just cleaned the hood down with some soap and water, didn't need to scuff it up much since the paint on it already felt like sand paper. After it dried, I used some rubbing compound on it and then buffed it with some wax. Here is what I came out with...

Not bad, it's not a mirror finish, but beats the dirt look. Will get some pics in the daylight tomorrow. Hope to get this thing done by next weekend.

hey moderator if this is the wrong section to post this in, feel free to move

Thanks, you're probably right. Should be able to see me a mile away now. I guess I better get a front license plate, carry my insurance and registration, and keep my mudflaps on :dita:.

No, I just used the cans...is there a handle that attaches? That would make things a lot better. I got the hood scoop from summit.
