Truck with missing title

What's the status these days on registering a 1960's truck with no title? I'm looking at one and am not sure what I'm in for if I pull the trigger.
 
I'm in the process currently doing the same. Bought a 61 Scout 80 in Colorado and going to title it here in Florida.

The process is not clear to me, but they are busy writing letters.
 
Find a service near you that does vehicle registrations, vin verification, etc. I use Michelle at Auburn Auto Registration and she has been great to work with. I've gotten a lot of the trucks and Scout's I have here and at home titled thru her in the past six months. Much easier to flip a rig when it has a clean title to go with it.

CA has a process where you fill out a statement of fact at your own peril if anything is less than honest, as to where you bought the truck and who sold it to you. A written bill of sale is best and the truck coming from CA is faster.

Like Jeff said, you will need vin verification through a licensed service.
