Travelall running now

Friday night I rebuilt the carb with a little gasket help and rebuild tips from Mike mayben. Saturday morning I installed the carb and plumbed in a fuel line from mikes old school electric fuel pump kit. Unfortunately the fuel pump decided it didn't like being woken up that early and refused to pump.:nono:

so I plumbed the jerrycan into the t-all's mechanical heart through the existing fuel system. Threw on the choke and hit it with a charge from my homebrew starter switch. I watched the fuel filter near the carb inlet fill up with gas. And then, like a well built machine, she fired right up and stayed running.

After hootin and hollerin and howlin at the moon (who was not there to witness the event) I got in the rig and drove her out of the field and right to the shop for some test work. It's the first time she has driven under her own power in years.

On Sunday I did a compression check and leakdown tested the motor. All but the #8 cyl had 130psi. #8 had 20psi :( . Leakdown test showed 100% loss. I could hear the air escaping through the oil fill tube.

I am pretty damn excited I got this beast running. Even though she doesn't have breaks I took her out to the field for some flatland fun with the boys. They can't get enough of it.:winky: daddy's old truck is now an instant legend.

That's great drew. I love stories like that!
Hiss'in in the oil tube? Try some 30 or 40 straight weight oil in the cylinder, just a squirt or 2 and test.
