transmission fit

I am wondering what transmissions will fit up to a 345 in my 72 Scout II either manual or automatic. I have spent the better part of the day lookin into this information with no luck.
My truck is a 1972 Scout II 100" wb, 345 engine, tf727 auto 3 spd, twin stick Dana 20 transfer case and Dana 44 front and rear.

Any help from yall is greatly appreciated

You could look in ihon store under apapters:

transmission adapter for gm700r4 to IH engine - International Scout parts

Or

http://www.IHPartsAmerica.com/store/CPT-nv4500adptr-p-ad.html

Should also add:

afaik, the IH bell housing bolt pattern is unique to IH transmissions, so no other make's transmissions directly bolt to an IH sv bell housing.

This leaves you with IH 3 sp and 2 IH 4sp transmissions (wide ratio (granny first) and close ratio).

You need a transmission from a Scout 4x4. IH transmissions from full size (pickups and travelalls) used a divorced transfer case so their transmissions are not machined ("set up") to accept a d20. Also, believe the same is true for 2wd scouts.

Is there something wrong with your current setup or....???
As mentioned, the IH sv8 bell pattern is unique. If you adapt to a GM auto, not only is it a spendy enterprise, but your fancy twin-stick case won't mount up. If you convert to manual, you need to source all the associated components. Swapping to just about anything besides another tf727 is likely to affect your driveshaft lengths.

Yeah an adaptor is too expensive for me right now, I have tried to find the info on what trannys work but I May just be looking in the wrong places because this is my first IH. What are the manual 4 spd trannys so I can attempt to find some prices.

Scoutboy yes the 727 that was stock in my truck was abused and not maintained so it was making tons of metal shavings, I replaced it with another 727 out of my 1977 terra parts truck (5 days ago) but I think its pretty close to done as well because it will not shift itself and it seems to make the truck more sluggish. And my transfer case twin is definitely not fancy, home brewed with an o.c. Torch, a grinder and a smaw buzz box. Works alot better than the single stick though, can shift with my thumb.

What you need to do is keep a weather eye on the classifieds here and other enthusiast forums like binder planet for used 4x4 Scout II 4 speeds. Either the close ratio or the wide ratio would work. Maybe place your own ad in the "parts wanted" section. As I stated earlier, you need plenty more than the trans chunk to do the swap. You need a v8 flywheel to replace the flexplate you have now. You also need the brake/clutch pedal assembly and the trans tunnel cover for a manual transmission. The starter spacer shim would need to be removed as that item is only to be used with the autos. Probably some other things that aren't coming to mind just now.

Your description regarding the donor 727 behavior is a bit vague. Perhaps some effort towards cyber diagnosing it here might turn up a simple issue that can be cured inexpensively. That would be best handled in a separate thread though.
