Transfer Case Shift Lever

I have a 1973 IH Scout with a 345 and a 4 speed. I am trying to figure out how to pull the shift lever from the transfer case. I want to pull the motor tranny and t-case all as one piece. Am all set except the shift lever on the t-case. Any help would be great

The body gets in the way of removing the pivot pin. I'm pretty sure to pull the lever you have to drill a hole in the body along the tranny tunnel so that the pivot pin can be removed.

You can do like Joe says and drill a hole in the body or with the motor mounts loose and crossmember removed use a floor jack under the transfer case and lower the drivetrain down until you have the room to remove the pin.

What Jeff had suggested is what I had done several years ago when I first started working on my 72 Scout II. I actually put the floor jack under the transmission. That way I was able to take off the transfer case soon after the shifter was disconnected. Then I pulled 304 motor and trans out together

I was able to take my whole drivetrain out of my donor truck with the lever intact.

Of course, I had a tow truck at my disposal.
