I'm glad you mentioned that!
I've made up a graphic to pass out to my neighbors this year. See attachment. Last year the neighbors found out about the t-f-t by word of mouth at the last minute and were bringing me donations up until the morning of our event. This year I will pass out flyers in October and reminders in late November. Everyone around here seems to want to help.
Yesterday I made up two collection bins and put them at local businesses.
Both of the business owners were really glad to participate. Karen and I went to walmart for a few cheap toys to put in the bins to "seed the pot". (god I hate walmart. You get a much nicer grade of crackhead at target!). I've got one more bin made up that I'll leave at the '50s diner the next time I'm there. The after rallye de-brief perhaps?
So yeah, I'm on it.
Btw I have called the contact person at the pleasanton collection center twice but I haven't received a call back yet. I'll keep you posted. Tentatively we will be dropping the toys off at the pleasanton firestation #1.
Go ahead and print out the handbill, hit up your neighbors, call me if you need a bin for your local businesses, but "just do it" for the kids.
Cary; feel free to move this to the main board if you feel it's appropriate.
