First of all I would like to thank everyone who has contributed knowledge on this board. Without that I could have made some costly mistakes in my engine build. Special thanks to Jeff at ihon for the forum (and parts!). For feedback and expert advice michael mayben,Jeff cambell,Robert kenney, eric vanburen,ronmc1954,dick floryanowich...these names come to mind. Thanks guys!!!
I took off work yesterday and spent the afternoon installing my engine. All told probably about 3 1/2 hours of actual work with 3 trips to the parts house....1st for oil, then 2nd I messed up the very last rear cup plug I installed, the 3rd trip was for a bolt I misplaced!!
Engine was bolted in and ready for accessories by about 6:30pm so I called it a night.
Got up this morning and finished everything else. Pushed it out of the garage, primed the oil pump, topped off with water, stabbed the dizzy, and turned the key.....fired right up!!! Hit 20psi oil on start up. Kicked it up around 2 grand rpm and let her run to break the cam in. Ran about 40-45psi oil the whole time.
Here it is running @ cam break-in:
Had to take it for a spin...and gas!!
Oil change 1st thing tommarow.. I am extremely happy with it. I have done all the work myself! Would have been a little easier to have an extra hand on a couple things though!
