tire and wheel size with 4" rc lift

Searched quite a bit and couldn't find an answer.

I've got a '79 Scout II. I'm preparing to install an rc 4" lift plus a CPT 5" shackle kit. I'd like to keep the 15" oem steel wheels with hub caps to maintain the old skool look. I'd also like to run a 31" tire or maybe a 33". Three questions,

1. What is the width on the oem wheel? There is a label on the door jam that says 15x6. However, I saw a post that all oem wheels were 15x7.
2. Will a 10.5" tire width fit on the stock wheel? BFG a/t's come in a 10.5 wide in both the 31" and 33".
3. Will a 31" tire look too small with that lift combo? I think ideally I would go with a 31" over a 33".

From my perspective the 31's go well with a 2.5" lift and 33's for a 4" lift. My Scout has a 4" lift and it runs 16" 265/75 which are about a 10.5" x 33" tire.

Thanks. Do you know what the width of the oem wheels? Can a 10.5" wide tire be mounted to them safely?

To get the true size you would have to break down the tire and measure from where the bead sets on each side. If I recall right a 10.5 width needs at least a 7.5 width wheel. Been a few years since I have dealt with any of that but I believe you can find a site online that would have that information for you though. You can also mess around with the width of the tire to change the wheel requirement. If the stock wheels are a 6 id go with a 245/75 or 235/75. It will be an overall smaller diameter and will be a smaller tire overall but there are 16" steel wheels available aftermarket if need be.
