Tie Rod Ends

I need to replace my tie rod ends.
Auto parts stores keep showing me pictures of 6" long ones. I tried Mike up in oregon (mr. Scout inc), but he really lags sometimes. Rare parts told me they have them either 20" or 28" center to center of pins, since I've never seen a Scout less than 3 feet wide I assume she doesn't know what she's talking about. Any way it is a '69 Scout 800 with a Dana 27 front axel the left side tie rod is about 16' long and the right side is about 3 feet long. Anyone know where I can get replacements for these ends, or even the whole drag link assymbly? Thanks ron

Um, this web site is owned by "IHOnly north". The premier IH vendor in the country, and Jeff is the owner.

Lol, oh that Jeff. I'm new here and have never used IH north before. Origionaly I went to san jose and delt with the anything Scout guys. After they moved had been dealing with Mike at mr. Scout in ore. So apologies. After talkiing with IH only I have pictures and dimensions. After looking again I cannot find any tie rod end pictures with a hole through the rod where the arm from the pittman punches through it. I hope some one has the part or knowledge of a suitable replacement. Thanks for the help and puttin' up with the noob questions.

Sure I don't know Jeff and everyone jumps me, but post pic.s of my parts and nobody has anything to say?

I sent you this reply last week -

"ron,

the parts you are after is nothing that I have new on the shelf. The best I could do right now would be to have your existing parts rebuilt. I do not have pricing on this and regardless would need to research this out for you. Any other questions on this please call back.

Thanks,
Jeff "

have not heard from you unless you talked with michael. What else do you want everyone to say?

Well since this, my first thread, I do know who Jeff is. Scout and I have even made the trip up to the shop where we both got to meet Jeff. I have also been to a few of the babs dinners in fremont.

Taking the assembly off and having it rebuilt has just not been an option for me. Which is why I never got back on this. When I was up there, Jeff told me that designing a replacement system was in the works. So... Was just wondering, respectfully wondering if this had come to fruition, or had gotten as far as a time table? If anyone knows of other year Scout drag links that will bolt up?

I had just gotten this rig at time of my first post I assumed the front axle was a Dana 27 as it has all the same steering etc as I had on my '65 800 which had the Dana 27. Since then I have learned that this, my '69 800a, actually has a Dana 30 front axle.

Thank you

Ron

patience, my friend. We'll get ya steered in the right direction. Your current configuration is definately a weak link and whooped along with being over used and abused.

Once we have time, before or after your trip, we will discuss options on replacement of that intire steering linkage with new parts. Some of which will be ordered through IH Parts America - like rod ends for the Dana 30 front end, and maybe upper and lower ball joints. All that, along with the shackle reversal kit.
