on tie rod ends (the ones with the grease fittings) , does anyone know if the "plate" that the grease fitting screws into are pressed on the tie rod casing? It looks as if the plate is stamped steel while the tie rod end is a "one piece" casting.
Reason for asking is that I have four ties rods that have been sitting for about 15 years and want to clean them up and use them (new dust boots, castlehead nuts, and grease fittings). Also, is there such a thing as self taping grease fittings? Can't seem to locate any. Or do I just drill a hole into the blank plate and screw in a new fitting?
Thanks,
