Thanks everyone for the help & suggestions wish I red the email about mikes motor a little sooner ,my machine shop bill is a lot more than $ 500. :mad2: status up date the cylinders are being bored out .30 over & we are hopping we don't have to turn the crank. Heads May just need a valve grind & I just ordered a cam & lifters from I.h. Only. At any rate it looks like due to rebuild cost & time we wont make the catina or the nor. Cal. Rubicon run. Maybe next year. Thinking about a run to slick rock when were back up & running, any one interested? Again thanks to everyone. More updates to come

Yeah, I was wondering how the $$ would turn out. I think I got the email on the 304 Mike is selling about a day after you said you were taking your's in to a machine shop. Hopefully it will turn out how you want it. For 30 year old trucks these things sure do like to suck down money. :icon_confused:
 
I keep hearing if this was a 350 Chevy it would only cost this much, but since it a 345 I.h. Its going to cost this much (allot more):crazy: :crazy: :crazy:
 
Well at least after the rebuild you will know you won't need another one for a couple of hundred thousand miles :lol: what do you think everything will end up costing you?
 
Its going to total out to almost three thousand dollars to have it rebuilt. They ust finished boring it 30 over, the crank is being grounded down by ten,and the heads are being rebuilt right now.
They have everything except for the oil pump rebuild kit and oil pump pic up

also my rcv cam just came in to day along with my rockers so I took those down to the shop. When I was there I asked them how soon could they have it done one guy said this week whitch is great cause I can have it in this week end befor next week when school starts,but then when I asked they guy incharge he said he wouldnt be able to assemble it for at least four weeks.:yikes: :yikes: :yikes:

it turns out he has like twenty other engins to asseble befor mine.
Anyway the guy incharge there is the guy that owns the place an he's realy cool, he has been letting me come in, hang and learn how the stuf works an teaching me what to do.:idea: so I was thinking that maybe he'd let me come in this week an next and put the engin together my self an he can keep an eye on me. So will see how it goes

Also funding the rebuild has exhausted all of our resources so we will not be able to make it to any of the up in comeing rubicon trips :icon_cry: :icon_cry: :icon_cry:
 
Sorry I haven t been on lately ive been busy with school and a few othere things. Anyways the engin is in the Scout and it looks good!!!.

It was put it in Monday last week and got it running late Tuesday night. Unfortunatly it has not been running good and causing alot of trouble untell today when a realy good friend/ family inlaw came an whipped it into shape.

I have a few pictures of the installment but I have to figure out how to email them from my iphone to my dads computer.

This is a few things I know that they did to it.

They bored it over therty thousands giving it six extra cubic inches makeing it a 351.

They ground the crank down ten thousands

put in a new rv came, one for lowe end torque.

We had the heads redone. They needed to be reseated.

Oil pump rebuilt.

Stuff like that done to it. :yesnod:

now im back to having the most unique truck at school. :arf:
