Thermoquad Base Gasket

I am looking to id the correct base gasket for a carter thermoquad off a Scout.

I know to use the open spreadbore design, but does gasket thickness matter?

I've been to the local auto parts stores and the gaskets they carry are quite a bit thicker than the one that came off the engine.

Just want to make sure this won't cause any issues...

I run the thick one that comes in the gp sorensen 96-246c carb kit. 1/8" thick or so...works fine for me.

The proper carburetor base gasket for the spreadbore carburetor application is a "thick" one, measures a nominal 0.300" in thickness. This is considered an "insulator"-type gasket designed to minimize heat transfer from the intake manifold to the carburetor body itself.

The aftermarket versions of these gaskets measure between 1/8" and 1/4" in nominal thickness.

The actual thickness of the gasket has much to do with the actual adjustment and actuation of the divorced choke system.
