TF 727 question.

Hi guys, I too have? Along those similar lines. My truck sat for many years. Luckily, my trans. Shifts pretty good when warm. Has a delayed engagement when cold. (from park) if I shift into neutral and wait 10 sec. Its fine. Once warmed up its ok. I'm thinking 30 yr old seals. Changed oil and screen. The pan had some clutch material but not bad. Mm what do you charge for the valve body work? Could I do it myself, or is it a proprietary trick? Than

That's just a Mark of the beast due to fluid drainback from the converter when not in use. You either get in the habit of warming up in n on your first cold start or there is some re-programming that can be done in the valve body with a shift kit. Mayben can lern ya up reel guuder on the whats and wherefores there.

Thanks scoutboy.
I have had my sii only a couple of months. I think I can live with the issue. I know a rebuild is in the future but I am satisfied for now. What a great truck a Scout is. I love it. I'm lucky. Other than a few minor leaks it is mechanically sound.
Thanks again.
John

The transgo tf2 kit includes the fix for converter drainback. Formerly known in the old.days as the" no yoyo" solution.

As soon as engine has solid idle when cold shift right to nuetral and converter will load.

Mr. Maven.
Thanks for the reply. The trango kit you refer to, is it available from my local trans part supplier or an IHOnly part?

Been on the road for a few days, finally have a connection again tonite.

The transgo tf2 kit is available through any transmission parts source, most transmission shops in major metro areas keep 'em in stock also.

We just received a shipment of complete B&M "transmission in a box" kits which also contains very similar valve body "fixes" also. These have been out of stock for awhile but a shipment arrived at the shop on Tuesday. This is by far the best value on the market in regards to a complete kit for full overhaul of a 727 and includes the shift/valve body mods also. However, it does not include the proper seals (n=2) for the tailshaft on the Scout II or the pickall version (n=1), those must be ordered separately.

Thanks again mm.
When the ol girl tells me its time, I'll call Jeff and order one. Until then, I'll just keep rubb'n her belly. Lol!

Any scouters in central tejas? Austin area?

Thanks again.
John

oh! Forgot to ask. Is it a typical kit? Ie bands and steels seperate?

No!

The B&M tranny inna box is complete and includes high end frictions all around. Not the kevlar shit which is not suitable for street use. New steels are included also along with a 5.0 kickdown lever. No other kit on the market is as full-featured as these B&M kits, those are all I use now in my work as they are definitely the most bang for the buck.

You need to hookup with the hill country binders based in the austin area. Large group of folks spread around cedar park, leander, fredricksburg, marble falls, austin, san marcos, san antone, cuero, etc.

I don't know who the current president of hcb is, but eric casey is the former president:

ericocasey@yahoo.com

The hcb website went away about a month ago, so I don't know what's up with that.

Another hcb contact would be david burkett:

davkett@yahoo.com

Last I heard, kim duren was veep...we're kinda "related" in a loose sense of the word?:

kduren@austincc.edu

Be sure to tell 'em I sent ya, that way you'll get either respect...or throwd in the spamcan.
