TBI Spacer 2brl Non Whistling version

Currently using a mr gasket phenolic 1" spreadbore spacer with a transdapt 1/4" TBI to spreadbore adapter on top to mount my throttle body. Whistles like a son of a gun. Spacer that afi sent mounts the TBI 180 putting the throttle ;linkage on the pass side and fuel up front of the engine. Unacceptable. Need a "quiet " 1" spacer / adapter. What are y'all using? Thanks. Looking at the Holley version.

Unless the adapter was mfr wrong I know of none that mount it backwards.
I also don't know of any adapters that whisle. I have heard many throttle plates and iac whistle due to the initial low idle setting.
Maybe follow the initial system setup procedures and see if it changes.

Have you narrowed down where its coming from?

Plenty of Holley and transdapt adapters avail. I also have many blueprints posted in the FAQ's to make your own.

I had a vacuum leak for a bit, but think I have corrected it. Afi kit, followed the instructions, perhaps it needs some fine tuning.

I made my own adapter out of 1/4 alum.

As for the whistling mine whistled more than my carb did but not really load or anything. And it ran fine and had no leaks...

I needed the height for clearance of a big end performance #16000 throttle/ kickdown bracket. .25" wouldn't work for me. Afi is sending me another spacer to swap out, the other one is "backwards" it mounts the TBI 180 out putting the fuel lines at the distributor end of the engine instead of the trans. Odd. Triple checked my installation, discovered a few vacuum leaks, retorqued the studs and mounting bolts. No good. Took it apart, antiseized both sides of all the gaskets, reassembled, coila, no vacuum leaks. Noise is all but one. Still noticeable, but not as bad. Fwiw, afi suggested if vacuum leaks not detected, jumper a and b terminals on aldl cable, key on, listen for hum of iac, if present, unplug, remove jumper, start engine, let it run. Some how this is supposed to self adjust the iac/ throttle plates. Not quite sure how this takes place. Clarification?

Timing is sorted out, base set at 0 degrees, with blue wire connected at module, computer dials in around 18 degrees. The engine hunts how ever. Idle is not consistent. Fuel pressure is a steady 10 psi. Work in progress. Trip to nm coming up this weekend, need it for the mountains. Thinking about a 3 wire bosch sensor.

Thanks pucci for that dizzy. You do fine work!

Yeah, pretty excited. Read FAQ. Think the iac is adjusted correctly, noise is gone, mostly, timing set, tps adjusted to .55volts, fuel at 10psi. Doesn't want to hold an idle on initial startup. Runs and drives, trying to log data for reference and inspection, using win aldl, but can't seem to find the darn log files. Searched and searched, no luck. Need them to post up for reference and mods. Any ideas where to look? Searched entire computer, can't find it. Have uninstalled, reinstalled, try again. Recommendations of other datalogging software that's simple? Thanks. Runs Rich, stumble off idle, other things, but does run.
Idle's down to 625.

Go to where you installed the program.
Normally c: program files/winaldl

if it is a provided chip it won't be exact for your engine so you have to drive for the ECM to learn.
Everytime you unplug the ECM to clear codes it will start all over.

Are you following the FAQ for logging data?
And what data to log? Save?

Have about an hour drive time off and on so far.

Yes, following the FAQ, here and the old at bp.

Trying to log blm data. Says it is saved, but can't find it. Will continue to search, thanks for the direction.

Afi burnt chip.

So when you were done you hit the save table button at the bottom of the page?
If so then a pop up opens and tells you the name of the file that was created.
If you didn't see it and have to hit ok then you didn't hit save table.

I recommend also using the data logger at the same time. That will allow us to see all the sensors in the system as you drive.

The file will be a .txt file so you could do a search in the c:/program files directory for *.txt and it will bring up all text files.

Yes, save tale button, pop up window with file name, wrote it down, no go. Can't find them. Wondering if they were really saved. Can't imagine why they wouldn't be though. Setup on com4, 232r whatever driver, aldl/ usb adapter chord, no error msgin the configuration window of the comport. Says ok, data transfer from computer to screen is good. I used the data log finction, checked everything but raw, and saved table in all tables: blm, int, o2, knock.

Quick question, wondering if I happened to pick up a "spare" computer with stock chip in it how much different my truck would perform? Harness is an afi harness. No knock sensor, egr. If I plug said computer into my aftermarket harness, will it function? Was interested in a performance comparison to what I have right now. I. E. Wondering if some of my problems will go away for a bit. Will continue to look for those files. Thanks.

You can open winaldl right bow and hit save table and it will pop up and tell you a file name.

Did you do a search with just a wildcard and txt?
*.txt
that will find all txt files in whatever directory you search.
The program always saves the file in the same place as the program. So where is the program?
Right click on the icon on the desktop anf look at properties.

Another ECM of the same number will plug in but you May pop a lot of errors.

I haven't seen anything so I don't know what problems your having.

Is it a complete system or just the harness and chip?

Harness/ chip. Few other things. Sourced my own throttle body, rebuilt by turbo specialties, airtex pump. Yes I tried it, still working on it, lots of stuff to filter through.

Then your files would be there.

Are you just looking with file explorer or are you trying to open a file in word?

You will need to select all files instead of word docs for file types.

Did you open winaldl and save another file to see if it shows up?

Any chance of you loading winaldl in 2 locations?

Well I would completely uninstall and start over till you can save a file and find it.

Do you restart your computer after the install?
If not you need to.
