Summer doors

Thats the nice thing about tig, you can just go over the cracks and your done. I would drill a small hold at the end to stop the cracks. But you had a ton of em, so making a new piece looks good.
 
Here's what I did to the upper hinge area where it was cracked.

Worked on the left door today.

Also filled in the holes from the door locks, those were kinda pointless now.

So I put my full doors back on so I can prep the summer doors for paint. As I was doing this I wondered what the difference in weight is with these summer doors.

Full door with door panel = 80lbs
summer door = 30lbs

I never thought there was 50lbs of glass, regulator and wing window in those doors.

They are currently performing the vital task of collecting moisture and turning it to rust in my barn.

I haven't had much time to work on my own stuff lately.
 
That is sweet, sweet sweet, you have mucho patience, I have access to a shop with all that but I guess I'm the guy that measures once cuts twice.

Made a little progress on the doors this weekend.
Cleaned them up some more, welded up the extra holes and primed them.
Still need to do the filler and blocking.

do you know how much taller they are then the SSII soft door inserts?

Here they are on for now 'til it's time to do the body work. I have not done any filler on them yet.

I don't know how high the SSII inserts are but these are 17 5/8" in the middle.
