Stock front end questions

Hello, I am getting ready to install king pin bearings/races and front axle seals on a '70 Scout 800a. I wanted to know if you sell front spring hangars for this model. Right now it has shackles all around. Also, is there a track bar conversion or similar system to keep the front axle centered?

We do not have any shackle hangers for these(although I wish we did). Most who come across this issue will switch to our reverse shackle kit which includes new hangers and such(but are not for your current set up). As for a track bar I see no need for one on a solid axle leaf sprung vehicle.

So there is no shackle reversal kit for this model Scout? What about SOA. I picked up a donor '69 800a. It has what appears to be an SOA conversion. Is there a downside to SOA as opposed to SUA?

I am looking to go through the entire front end once and add whatever I need to make it reliable and strong. What do you recommend? I want it to be about 3 - 4 inches higher than stock.

So I am planning on getting the springs redone at sac spring. Possibly a new pitman arm/drag link. New tie rods, new spring bushings... Based on your knowledge, what am I leaving out?

Our reverse shackle kit is designed for 2" wide springs. Our kit can be used with 1 3/4" wide springs but extra spacers will be needed that can be purchased thru us. Or you can install Scout II front springs on the 80/800.

Downside to doing a SOA on a Scout 80/800 with the factory front axle is that there is no hysteer kit available for it.

Is the hysteer kit used to drop the pitman arm, or recover the steering geometry once the axle is under the spring?

Also, do you have any Scout II front springs?.. If so how much?

The hysteer kit is used to move the tierod and draglink up above the leaf springs.

Used spring packs are $75 each. New lift spring packs are also available and average on price is $150-$190 each.

So I could run Scout II spring packs with reverse shackles and use a hysteer kit to get the steering geometry back. How much is a hysteer kit for my application if I go with Scout II spring packs?

Or better yet, what would it cost out the door for 2 new front spring packs w/4" lift, shackles, hysteer kit and any odds and ends I might need to complete the installation?

On the hysteer kit we do not have one for a closed knuckle application which is what you have. If you upgrade to a Scout II Dana 30 or 44 front axle then the hysteer kit could be used. Once we figure out what parts you need/want give me a call as I will be glad to provide you with a quote.
