Spacer Needed With High Torque Starter

My high torque starter recently started slipping out of the flexplate ring gear teeth when the starter is engaged for 3 to 4 seconds. Took the inspection cover off the 727, looks like about 5 teeth are worn on the ring gear, the wear is towards the front of the teeth (1/4 is worn across each tooth, the rest is good). Makes me wonder if the spacer prevents the starter gear from engaging fully across the ring gear teeth? Probably will need to eventually replace the flexplate, but like I said it doesn't look that bad.

Thanks

Try taking the spacer out and then double check the engagement. If it isn't going too far then leave it. If it is I can contact the manufacturer and order up a new nose cone for the starter that has a different depth of engagement(hope that makes sense).

Thanks Jeff,

yep, makes sense, I will take it out and see what happens. Will let you know how it goes.
