Mongo needs a new forever home. This truck starts, runs, drives, steers, stops...and does all of these quite well for being 52 years old. Has a strong running 345 SV8 engine with excellent oil pressure at all times. Backed by a rebuilt Torqueflite 727 auto trans from a 1973 1210 that shifts flawlessly in all positions including kickdown/passing gear. Has two piece drive shafts and center bearing from the same '73 donor truck. Has a Dana 60 rear axle with 4.10 gears and limited slip differential that does limited slip things in POSI-tive fashion, also from the '73 donor truck. The power steering has no slop in it, and is effortless to turn lock to lock. Has manual drum brakes all around that have been fully serviced and work as well as they can. All window glass is present and crack free. The cab experience would benefit from new weatherstripping throughout. The doors open and shut nicely and the door windows roll up and down easily. All exterior and interior lights work. All gauges work...yes, even the Fuel gauge reads accurately from E to F. The odometer reads 43k, but it isn't original to the truck. Actual mileage is unknown. The wipers work. The heater blower works. The charging whirler makes lightening bolts. The right side cab fill tank has been cleaned and sealed and has a new fuel pickup/sender assembly, which explains the functioning Fuel gauge. The left side fender fill tank has also been cleaned and sealed, but it is uninstalled and needs a new pickup/sender assembly. The tank straps and fender flange pipe are included. It has a clean Oregon title in my name, but has not been registered in many moons, yet it has been on the highway for clandestine road testing recently. It's a runner-driver with a lot of life still left in it. It has full dual exhaust with glass packs, but the system could use some work. The shocks are worn and need to be replaced. The wheels are 16 inch basic steels from a late 80's Dodge truck. The tires look great and without the DOT date stamp, you'd never believe they're from 2005! No dry rot. They all hold air. The one year only plastic honey comb grille insert is in very good condition, which is a rarity for '71 D trucks. The radiator was reconditioned long ago, but is still holding up well as there is no sign of leakage. The one mechanical issue this truck has is the even bank cylinder head has a minor casting crack near one of the spark plugs, as evidenced by mild steam and steady coolant drips exiting the passenger side tail pipe while the engine is running. It is not a head gasket issue. The heads were pulled and new gaskets installed roughly 10 years ago, with no improvement made. There is no coolant getting into the crank case. The oil stays nice and amber colored. The cooling system is not being over-pressurized by exhaust gases. This is a minor issue, but still one that should be addressed by the next owner at some point. A pair of used 345 heads in unknown condition will be included with the sale in the hopes that at least one will pass magnaflux and can then be used to replace the cracked head. Reason for the sale is to thin the herd and to help fund other projects. Asking $2500. Truck is located in Days Creek, Oregon. Not looking for trades.
