I was just talking with a co-worker and somehow old school wheeling came up, which got me thinking about the beginning of the end for my Scout.

I'm pretty sure it goes back to the week between Christmas and new years of 1999. I took the a few days off work, installed a 4" spring lift on my Scout - mounted up some brand new 35" BFG mt's and went on an awesome snow run on new years day 2000 with big phil.

Being snow it didn't really 'test' my Scout and show me the problems. I went on a few light back country cruises and exploring over the next few months - then meet up with big phil for a browns camp run in the spring.... We made it pretty far in on the cedar tree trail when my front Dana 30 Decided it had seen enough from the 35's and the ring and pinion exploded... It was an epic fail!

That day started the ultimate down fall of my Scout - a Dana 44 front was soon found - gears were swapped - parts where cut off - fast forward 11 years and it is now a pile of Chevy parts with a few IH body pieces on an IH frame...

Good times, good times...

Chris! What can we do? Should I clean out space in my shop? Are you still collecting parts? Or can we attack it and get it done?
Let me know. This club only needs one carl...:dita:
 
Crap, I think we lost another one...
By the time this kitchen remodel is done, he'll be selling the Scout so he can stay at home and watch "as the world turns":out:
 
My tv has been wrapped up and put in storage too. So don't worry about me wasting my time with trivial stuff like that...

Chris, I feel your pain. I know what it's like to have kids, work, and never ending projects around that house that leave you with almost no time to work on anything you want to work on.

But you can find a balance. I have found that even a half hour in the garage when the kids are in bed is worth the effort.

Tv for me has been out of the question for years now. I don't have enough time now for tv. Though there was a time before I had kids that I remember following sports and tv shows.. Crazy.:out:

but.... Dvr's are the bomb. I record xtreme 4x4 and muscle cars and will take time on a Saturday or Sunday morning to watch a new episode (pretty rare these days) they are full of all kinds of good tips. Oh, and the occasional good eats episode.
 
Since this has morphed into a thread about tv, fwb shop north has a 90's tv on top of the freezer plumbed in as an extension from the living room. Jerry and I will occasionally have it on while we're out there "wrenching". A few years back, ol' jer hacked my child lockout code. I didn't discover it 'till I got the next month's bill. Damn near had to kick his azz to the curb over that one. Had to de-subscribe from a few channels afterwards. Azzhat is worse than a teenager.:frown2:
