Went down to mayben's Friday night and stayed there till they kicked me out Saturday evening.
Kathy makes the best damn parmesan chicken this side of florence. I didn't need to eat till Sunday evening.
Rebuilt the second rocker shaft while I was down there. The shaft was so bad even I could tell it was done. Mike said it was the worst he had ever seen, even worse than it's brother from the other side.
I ripped a delco apart and did some garage machining on the shaft. Mayben had a set of wilco high performance shim bushings that he gifted me. I am thinking he will write off the 15 bones and make it up on the back end. Dave wasn't sure the shims would pass napa standards, let alone nascar. But Mike insisted they were high dollar super performance bushings.
Sunday I stuck the rocker assembly back in place, started it up and watched it oil slick as hell. I took video of before and after for a tech article I am doing on how to diagnose oil problems. It will be an addition to what Mike is working on.
I installed my tach and ran her for about two hours. Idling at around 500rpm for two hours. Oil pressure maintained 20psi. That works for me. Took her for a spin around the neighborhood farms and she sounds real nice.
This Travelall hasn't got a name yet, but she is just a break job and a filler neck away from being a daily driver.
Thanks to Mike for entertaining me and thanks to kathy for putting up with me. Had a great time down there. I am still sad I didn't get a chance to jump into the mckenzie even though it was 43 degrees f.
