Hi all,

so, yeah, the bbq coming up soon and I thought about brewing a beer for it. Like we did a couple of years ago.
I've developed a nice cream ale recipe that goes down easy on a hot day. Or we could have an IH ipa again. What do you think?
Suggestions?

Jayson,

I'm glad to hear that you are still brewing.

It looks like there are only about six weeks left until the bbq. That's cutting it close. Especially for a big beer like the IH ipa.
Since I have the ingredients on hand for the cream ale I think I'll
just go ahead and brew that one up some night this week.

We ought to come up with a name for it. Maybe something like
"cracked block-oil in the water-cream ale". Eh, maybe not.:cornut:

Hi hondo,

no, I never heard of them before. So close to home too.
I'll have to give them a try. I see that they don't open until 5 on weekdays. Maybe I can swing by on a weekend when they open earlier.

A 12% ipa sounds awesome. Reminds me of an 18% imperial stout that I made once....

It's going to be the cream ale.
I spent about 3 and a half hours brewing it up last night. My initial taste test was good, so I have confidence that this will be a great batch.
The beer will spend about a week and a half in the fermentor, then it can go into bottles. After two to three weeks in bottles it should carbonate and loose that "green beer" taste.
I'll post the gravity measurements after bottling in case anyone wants to calculate the abv (alcohol by volume).
Now, what about a label? Are there any artistic members who want to take a shot at designing one? Just imagine your design gracing dozens of bottles of yummy ale!:icon_razz:

Ah yes. I'm quite familiar with more beer.
They have good products at a reasonable price. And their customer service is outstanding!

My cream ale recipe was developed from their blonde ale ingredients kit.

I bottled the batch on Saturday. Everything looked good at that point.
I pulled one out of the bin to see how they were doing. It looks like they are starting to clear nicely.

So they will have a month to bottle condition and carbonate, should be awesome!:cornut:
