Side window removal

Can you tell me how to remove the side glass on my travel top, 72 Scout II? Auto glass co's wont touch it and auto body shops can't or won't do it. I'm repairing some rust issues and would like to have a clear shot around the windows.
Thanks,
pbwoody

The only way I know of is to cut around the seal with box cutters. It ruins the seal, but allows the glass to be removed. Then you re-install with a fresh seal and lots of soapy water.

You can do it with your hands, all you have to do is get inside and "roll" the seal outward. It helps to have someone push outward on the glass. Honestly it takes maybe 10 minutes to pop glass in or out of these tops. Once you do one you will laugh about how easy it is.

Pdwoody, great question. I need to do the same on my 73 Scout II and was going to ask that question today. I'm getting ready to paint my top and I want to throw paint with my windows out. I was going to do it the way scoutboy74 suggested. I will try ihochad's way. Thanks.

I will say that if you have a firm plastic puddy knife or something you can use to get under the seal and roll it under the lip of the top it will help matters. Let me know if you have any issues, I have an old top I could take the windows out of with some photos to show you guys what I mean.

I’m doing a restore on a 74’ Scout ii. I have no clue how to remove the sliding side windows. I have read about the putty knife trick but am not exactly sure how to execute. Any pics or videos on how to do?

Thanks! 🙏

Mine pop out pretty easy. From the inside use a putty knife and pry the seal down while pushing out on the window. Start at the top corner and work your way around.
