Hey guys-
finished the body bushings on my 79. I think the shocks and rest of the bushings up front need to be changed. I have stock springs with the 5" shackles on it. What shocks you guys recommend? I cant afford new springs to lift the truck so this will have to do for a couple of years. I need shock brands that you guys like and a place yall like to order them from.
Thanks!-

Joe

Hey Joe,
when I bought my 69 800a I had stock springs and po had put a larger shackles on the front. The strain put on the springs made my front wheels swim a bit. Chad up at ihon took one look and told me I needed wedges with larger shackles to stop that. Only he told me that before I had a chance to tell him the problem, lol. The wedges are only about $30. I had to buy new shear pins to install them with as they add a little over all height to pin race. About $80 out the door and will help save a lot of wear on your tie rod ends and tires.

First - stay away from the pro-crap(procomp for those purists) cheap stuff. They are just that = crap!!!!! I purchased 4 of them crap pieces for my 74 Scout and they seemed worse then the 30 plus year old ones I pulled out.

Bilstien shocks are awsome. I did a SOA conversion on my said 74 Scout and installed 4 5100 series bilstiens. Kinda like driving a cadilac on steroids. :dita:
