Shift Decal Adhesion

Those metal decals that go on the shift knobs in Scout II's... They seem to have some dry brown stuff on the bottom. How do they actually adhere to the knobs. Melt that stuff ? Tried to peel it - nope. Simple stuff, I know, but at 12 bucks a pop - doing it right is in my best interest.

Nice one Jeff - yeah my second move was some super 77 - I was just curious if that brown gunk on the bottom was useful for something.

I've used 3m weather strip adhesive on mine. If it holds up outside in the weather, it should be massive over kill inside the truck.
