One of the most frustrating things for me about the later Scout iis is the gray plastic marker light housings.
I have always liked the chrome look lots better. Also some of the early Scout II marker light housings were actually metal and chromed rather than just chrome plastic. Now I’m all about metal parts. If I wanted plastic I’d buy a new car.
the simple solution is to swap out the marker lights for an early set. So that’s what I set out to do. However most of the lenses from the early ones are faded and new lenses are not available for the early style. IHOnly does sell the late style is right here… marker light assy - includes lense, gaskets and frame - International Scout parts
Never one to do anything the easy way.
I came up with this solution. I took some early marker lights and separated the lenses from the housings. Turning the lens sideways you can see where they were glued together originally. This is best done with a razor blade. Be careful not to pry too hard and break the housings.
Next after washing everything up in the kitchen sink.
I took some late model lenses then using some super glue. I attached them to the early housings. You May need to shave the screw holes a bit larger. But once that is done the lenses will fit right on. The end result is a brand new looking lens. Nice and bright again.
