1978 International Scout terra with original four wheel pop up camper

attachment.php

For sale is my 1978 Scout with the original fwc pop up camper. This rig is set up with all the comforts of home in a classic tuck.

The Scout:
1977 International Scout terra
two wheel drive (4x2)
196 four cylinder motor (regularly gets above 20 mpg!)
t-19 four speed transmission (close ratio)
Dana 44 rear end (4.11 gears)
power brakes
front disc brakes/rear drums
new 30 inch BFG mud terrain tires (on 15 inch steel wheels)
dual battery (camper/starter)
33 gallon fuel tank

the camper:
camper designed specifically for Scout terra
pass through access between cab and living space
bench seat/expandable bed (storage underneath)
dinning table (removable)
built in kitchen counter (more storage underneath)
sink
two burner stove
cooler
heater (with thermostat)
interior lights (led)
exterior porch light
lockable exterior propane storage (tank included)
roof vent
roof rack

the bad:
light surface rust on hood and bumper (not structural)
minor dents in body (two)
fuel gauge doesn’t function
slight bump steer
missing some minor trip pieces

the good:
no rust issues in the typical areas (wheel wells and body mounts)
fabric top is in excellent shape
most every thing works as it should
passes smog with flying colors (will be smoged for new owner)
drive it to your favorite fishing hole today and stay the week!

This truck has been a blast to use. I recently took the Scout 3 hours north for a weekend of abalone diving on the mendocino coast. It performed fantastic. I camped in absolute comfort considering the unfavorable conditions out side. This truck is as fun as it is functional. Unfortunately my small family is expanding and out growing our Scout.

Asking: $6,500 (possible trades welcome)
location: san francisco

Didn't you have this rig at the fall rallye a few years back???? If so, this is a great camper! I would so lay out the cash for this if I was not afraid the wife would kill me.....

Bummer, sorry to see it go sean. It's a cool truck.
You must still have the silver sii, that infamous movie star.

Yep michael, one in the same.

Thanks guys. It is one of a kind.

Yea cary, I still have the silver Scout. That will get put in storage before I get rid of it. Too much history with that truck.

Man - I'd throw you my '73 1110 Travelall and my '73 1010 wagnmaster for that pup! Too bad they're on the right coast and yours is on the left coast...

Corey up in spokane has his one-of-kind terra with an extended cab for sale.

You might be able to work a trade with him.

Corey's terra is sick and I'd be happy to own that. But the great state of California just isn't cool with it.

Since I don't live in CA and don't understand their draconian laws in regards to vehicles, why wouldn't CA like corey's terra?

Is it because it is repowered from gas to diesel? Or is it because that particular cummins diesel engine was never an option in the light line from the factory?

Remember when I almost bought that rig for $2500 in 1996??? The original owner was selling it after his wife passed away. All gear included. If j.I. Would have kept quiet it "might" still be in my collection. When I went to penn valley to negotiate, he would not budge and doubled the asking price to $5000, two days later......arggghhh does it still have the salvage title?

Shoot, I'm only asking $1,500 more than the original owner did in 1996?! Dang, I'm keeping it.

Yea, still has the salvage title (due to theft as I was told by the son).

Was 1 like that here in lima, ohio getting some brake work done I think,at a shop in town, was you ever here with it?Jeff, prolly 10 years ago or so?

Jeff. As far as I know, 10 years ago the owners were living here in the sf bay area. At that point, it belonged to the father of the guy I purchased it from.

It would be nice to know how many scouts with fwc's are on the road. I believe Isa Ismail has one and Mike from IHSTO has one.http://www.forums.IHPartsAmerica.com/I-h-s-t-o/5174-ihcs-Scout-camper.html

I have one, with a cummins 6at3.4 that replaced the stock Nissan turbo diesel engine and I love it!
