O.k I have been looking around my area for a Chevy Dana 44 so I could avoid grinding down side of pumpkin for spring perch. I have not had any luck in my area (san antonio) so I am planning on using stock Scout axle and grind it down. What I need to know is if I go with Chevy flat tops can I still use factory disk brakes? Or do I have to swap to Chevy brakes at the same time? What all do I need to get? Chevy outers with Scout disk brakes or Chevy outers and Chevy brakes?

There are flattop knuckles that have the 8 hole pattern for the Scout spindles and caliper brackets. Essentially you can use all the Scout inner & outer axles, brakes and hubs. IHPA could set you up with a pair of flattop knuckles for your application.

Or, you can get a pair of 6 bolt knuckles, small bearing spindles to match, Chevy calipers and brackets, and then a pair of Ford rotors and hubs. Then the Scout inner(and I think the outers too) axles can still be used.

Ok I will go Chevy route. I plan on upgrading to Chevy brakes in the future I didn't want to buy Scout flat tops and then turn around and buy Chevy flat tops. They are not cheap. I know this info is out there but, I get confused when it starts turning into multi-brand parts assortment. Thanks for the reply scooter.
