Rubicon on August 27 & 28

Just in the Jeep, we use the little srs walkie talkies on the road, and some on the trail, will also set to channel 10 if someone has them too(we have 4 to share with our group)

If you mean frs radios, you won't have channel 10 cb. Totally different freq.

But my ham can get your frs channel:winky:

I know they don't go together, I was just picking 10 to make it easy to remember, everyone go to 10. I did not know the ham would get that. Would you know the frequency?, or should I pick another channel on the srs to make it easy to match up with the ham?

The only cb I have is in the Jeep, and it's kind of a cheapo setup, I will put it on 10 when we get up there. But we communicate on the road with the walkie talkies,(no cb in tow rig) and on the trail a lot, because a lot of the guys have no cb, and I have 4 of the walkie-talkies. Didn't know the ham radio could do that, (get the walkie talkie freq) I can't wait, going to the con is like waiting for Christmas!!!

I can post up the freq. You have to mod your ham radio, or buy a kg-uvd2 And you can program all the frs, gmrs and murs channels into it. You will also be able to put out 5 watts of power:winky:

I feel like a tard, I've been calling these srs, when it's frs, ok, must have gotten the srs from the car steering wheel, for "supplemental restraint system" lol ok, I looked up the radio you mentioned, pretty cool, a ham and walkie talkie all in one. Maybe next year, not in the budget this year.

I'm out this weekend as me and my son are spelunking.

Looks like a couple of us are heading up on sept9,10,11 I would like to get a couple trips in before November. I've only been out a couple times this year.

Hey Craig! I think Joe and I will be on the sep 9-11 trip, maybe just sat-Sunday again like this one. As long as there are no major breaks.

Meeting tme for our group is 5am in cordelia, susuin valley rd exit.(off 80) burger king or gas station across street.

Sounds good.

Ham tech license is a pretty easy test and makes for great communications. The rubicon repeater can hit a large area of the valley too. I hear people in vacaville while on the con. Something to think about for next season anyways. Plus if you need something. I.e. Part or welder its easier to get.

The cb works ok if your up high, like on the dam road over looking the spillway.

I've help others find someone on the ham before, so if your up there you can always ask to use somebody's radio. I leave it on all the time, but if you call out talk slow enough for me to hear you. There can be a bit of chatter on the radio and it's not like I'm in the office where its nice and quiet. Call sign af60d you can always follow up with hey Craig.
I monitor the 146.805 repeater.

Should be easy enough for me considering, during the week, I normally roll out of bed at 3:30am and at work by 5:05am. Granted, that is if I can get this coolant temp under control. Wont know till tomorrow(Friday) when I can drive around town for a few hours.

heading out the door in about 10 minutes, should be up there by 10:00 pm:icon_mrgreen:

Damn, missing out on some good wheeling. But hey I promised my son I would take him spelunking. Next time for sure. I need to get a couple more time in the next month or two.

Good times.
Did some of this.
