RPT intake

I've been doing a lot of research, and I May be in need of some prodding, or convincing. I am rebuilding my 345 and I am considering converting over to a 4bbl. Would the rpt intake and the Holley 4160 (390cfm) carb be a good choice? Well, at least for the carb, I'm pretty sure the intake is a good way to go!

I have an edelbrock 600. That should also work shouldn't it? I've been told in the past that the 345 requires about 350cfm to operate. Since I am going with a bigger cam and headers I figured the 390cfm carb would work out pretty good. But like I said, I already have a 600. Why spend the money when I already have something I could use? If 600cfm is too much, the its too much and I will be about 400 bucks poor'er.

Completely forget about the "cfm" deal as it regards the ihc-produced engines. The "cfm" issue has nothing to do with what carb works well and what carb does not.

The only thing that really matters is that all carburetor internal jetting and calibrations are in the ball park to start with. When we say something "will" or "will not" work, it's because we've tried it and can testify. That is how we operate this business!

A typical edelbrock clone of a carter afb will work just fine if it's calibrated accordingly. Generally speaking, they are fine right out of the box once adjusted for the actual engine set-up..
