When I put my truck in reverse it shudders. What could this be,amd what should I do to fix this?

Adjust the bands:

Check the rear axle u-bolts for tightness.

Look for a broken rear spring main leaf.

Look at the motor/tranny mount situation.

Should I be checking the driveshaft u joints as well? How do I check to make sure the driveshaft u joints to make sure they are good?

U joints make snap/crackle/pop/grind noise either direction, long with vibrate like hell.
