Reverse shackle, shorter fangs

Thanks to the IH Parts America team for taking time to answer questions!

I've searched around the site and read good write ups for using your reverse shackle kit. I still have lingering questions about the length of the front fangs. I understand the theory of what longer vs shorter does for spring angle, axle motion, brake dive, etc. In my head, I've always wanted the shortest fang possible.

Is it possible for someone to expand on the different lengths of fangs you have tried, seems everyone has a different formula for success. Maybe the answer I'm looking for is just "we tried that, it didn't work because of... Don't waste your time." if this is already in a thread, point me in the right direction, I must have missed it.

Thanks for the help.

Thru the years I have tried fangs of all lengths. It seemed all each had their pros and cons. I settled on our current length as it wasn't too tall that it was constantly in the rocks when wheeling and it wasn't too short making the leafspring arrangement set at an angle. And with the angled fang it allows use of a stock bumper or you can move the fangs forward to the end of the frame hence extending the wheelbase of the vehicle if desired. The other benefit of our reverse shackle kit compared to others is the longer shackle. With a longer shackle the leafspring has more room to flex as opposed to a shorter shackle. And with the shackle bushing going thru the frame the shackle assembly isn't sticking down real low below the frame and hitting the rocks when wheeling. Our kit can also be used on both spring under and spring over suspensions.

Jeff,

thanks for the reply, it supported what I have been reading. Maybe I should just benefit from your testing; get the kit and quit worrying about re-inventing the wheel.

Thanks for your input.
