Reputable Vehicle Transporter?????

just wondering if anyone on this site knows a reputable vehicle transporter? Anyone here ever have any good luck or bad luck with one? Any info. Would be great. Thanks.

Copy/pasted from another one of our threads -

for transportation of the rolling chassis we used d&g transport llc ( d & g auto transport llc homepage ) based out of eunice, Missouri. The owners Danny and gwen ross are great people to deal with and have a very reliable vehicle transport service. D&g has very reasonable prices since no broker is involved and Danny doesn't mind if the vehicle you need moved doesn't run. You can contact Danny or gwen at d&g transport by calling toll free 1-800-535-4533 or 1-417-932-5217. Please be sure to tell them that you got there contact information from IH Parts America.

Based upon Jeff's excellent experience using d&g, we contacted 'em regarding a haulback for the rig under discussion in this thread:

http://www.forums.IHPartsAmerica.com/I-h-s-t-o/815-miz-phelpsette-phase-II.html

They quickly replied that due to fuel costs at the time, they (d&g) had temporarily suspended carhauls. They also recommended a broker who they delt with as a point of contact for us.

Charlieo did that and ended up with "rv xpress". Their service and communications throughout this haul was first rate! And cost was very reasonable...especially for the level of service and competence they delivered!!

I have direct contact info for them (sans broker), email me for details if interested.

do not do business with Mike bills in the turlock, CA area. I had put transport together with him for the grey Scout and a travelette in fullerton to be brought back to north carolina. He scammed the deposit, but I was able to cancel the check for the balance before he cashed it. I'll deal with him later. :mad5: at least he didn't get the trucks!

His fake Company is a-1 car hauling-- not to be confused with a-1 car haulers... I contacted them (in error) in my attempt to get to the bottom of things. He laughed morosely and said I was lucky, that they get calls all the time based on that guy's scams. Apparently he has spent time in jail for schemes and fraud. I must've missed the memo.

If I don't get that travelette picked up today, the seller is going to scrap it! It can't stay any longer due to city anger. Anyone have a friend in the fullerton area who can pick it up for me? Tomorrow is too late.

Mike,

unable to locate an email or pm on your profile.

If you are wanting contact detail for rvxpress, here it is:

p.o. Box 506
piqua, oh 45356
(937) 418-0127

their billing addy is:

17 east white lake rd.
Twin lakes, mi 49457
(231) 206-9065

their primary bizz is hauling outbound airstream products to the west coast dealer base.

Their broker called me continuously after the driver reached the west coast with his deliveries to keep me apprised of the eta at my shop for the pick up. Worked well as one of his deliveries was for the airstream dealer in eugene which is 45 minutes from us.

Once the pick up was complete from this end, the driver kept the receiving party in the loop as he progressed across country after making other vehicle pickups, actually dropped the delivery a day earlier than scheduled near louisville, ky!

I've never experienced this level of customer service when shipping stuff like this! First class all the way!

I contacted rv xpress and they gave me a quote that no one could beat. I just got word tonight that they picked up my new toy and they are headed east....thanks again Mike for the information.

Has the rig shown up yet erik???

Wrap up the story when ya git time...we need happy endings!

We're just hopin' the falloff in rv wholesale deliveries don't take rv express down..the contracts they have sure allow them to keep their rates in line with the market for leftcoast haulbacks. And their customer service is well worth the cost!

when the haul was set in stone with rv xpress I explained that I was going to be out of town for a week. They told me that it would not be a problem. Their plan was to pick up the truck in iowa and haul it back to there secured lot that has 24hr security in ohio. Once I get back into town (the 15th of this month) they said to call them so they put the truck on the next trailer that is headed to the baltimore port. Oh, and there is no extra charge for them holding the truck on their lot in ohio....so as of right now I am more than pleased with these guys....

Erik,
I am not a reputable vehicle transporter nor do I have any information of such. I am an old friend from college that happened upon this site and your name. I was shocked, but amused to find you using this site. I here you have added another Scout to your collection. Nice. I think of you often and hope you are well. Take care. Mystery

Where did you find that erik!??

I just stumbled upon a picture of a wagonmaster a month or so ago while surfing the net. Before then I didn't even know they made such a beast! I'm a travelette fan but I'd take one of these in a heartbeat, especially if they're a rarity. Looks like a baby travelette. Were they all made with a ff rearend?

Very cool.

That's the score of the decade erik!!!!

In my experience in looking at wagonmasters, they all seem to have rot far in excess of what the "norm" is for IH schnizz...don't know why other than poorly-designed drain in the scabbed-in bed section. One of 'em had the rear cab wall rotted completely out, it had been replaced with plywood and plexiglas! And it was a true wagonmaster, not a homebrew version.

So daveeboy...ya want I should find ya a wagonmaster??? I'm jones'n for one too but I can live out that fantasy vicariously through you!

But I just don't think we'll find one that compares with what erik has now!!!!

Great story erik!

If you agree to take me in after lynn kicks me out of the house for buying it then we won't even have to bother with shipping! I'm clean out of garage bay space right now but I tell you what. If you can find one 1/2 as nice as the one erik just snagged then you May very well have a buyer!
