Rear Main and Cam Cover Questions

After a successful road trip of around 450 miles in my 1962 Scout 80 it became apparent I need to replace most of the engine seals. :icon_eek: It’s a 1962, 152, manual, 4x4.

Got the transmission and transfer case off and pulled the old rear main seal. It had a black rubber ring behind it, from what I can tell it is a spacer to relocate the seal and keep it out of a groove in the crank. Anyone else find something like this? I got a speedi sleeve for it so I’m not going to reinstall it.

Can I pull and reseal the rear cam cover? I don’t want to remove it if it’s got a snout or bearing or something that’ll keep me from reinstalling it. I can’t tell if it’s leaking since the rear main was throwing oil everywhere but I figured now is the time.

Thanks.

Yes, you can pull the rear cam cover.
All it takes there is a gasket.

Speedi-Sleeve is the proper repair for your situation on the rear main seal.
