Rear Drum Brake Help

Hi all, I recently purchased a 1977 Scout II Traveler. I'm trying to change out the rear brake shoes but when I pulled the drums off the springs were in different spots on each side. I can't find any good pictures of the way it's supposed to look so if anyone could take a few pics for me I would really appreciate it. The springs and the adjuster cable are the areas I need help with. Thanks.

You really want to get a factory service manual from the store here. It has all the pics and info you'll need.

The FSM is indeed a wise investment for long term ownership. For more expedient help, google images search "dana 44 drum brakes" and you will see some good, color pictures of pertinent drum brake assemblies. Spring arrangement and such will often be reversed from one side to the other. Makes sense when you stop and think about it.

I need rear brake HELP on a 1957 IH Metro Van (dully's) or if anyone has a great source. We are rebuilding our whole brake system and managed to get the fronts sourced (through Rock Auto) and put on. Any assistance would be awesome. Thanks Lisa

Hi Darren,
I don't know if I need a whole new rear axle however that sounds interesting. Just need the brake pads/shoes :) I will let the hubbie know. You have pics or website?

Lisa :)
