Curious about rear Dana 44's and disc brakes. I know in the Scout II around 74/75 d44 became standard front and rear with the front being disc but what about the rear? Are there any rear d44's that came standard (or as an option) with disc or is the only option to get a kit or find one off a different rig?

On the scouts the rears were all standard drum setups. Some people like myself convert over to a Ford explorer type disc brake setup for the rear. Which has the drum style e-brake setup inside the hat of the rotor. I took it a little further on my stock housing though and had the flanges that held the old drums on cut off and the large bearing Ford 9" flanges welded on to hold the new disc brake setup
