Rear disc brake conversion issues

Hey guys, I recently bought a rear disc brake conversion kit from IH Parts and installed it. The instructions were a bit vague but after a few hours of trial and error I got it done. I got a new MC and prop valve in the kit too and I installed them and tightened all the fittings down.

Now, my problem is bleeding. I can't for the the life of me get fluid to the rear at all. I had the rear drum brake working and all so it can't be the lines. Has anyone had this problem?

I read in the instructions about removing the caliper to get all the air out? I haven't done that yet, I was wanting to get some fluid out of the rear caliper bleeders before I did that.

Any advice on this?

Thanks
Corey

Did you bench bleed the master? That should be the first step anytime a new master is installed since that's where the fluid originates.

Pull the line off the prop valve and make sure you're getting fluid past it. Then pull the rear rubber line and make sure you're getting fluid past it.

If the level in your master isn't going down your master isn't bled fully or somewhere past that isn't allowing fluid past.

It’s not an adjustable prop valve, so nothing to be done there.
@winchested, I’m going to try doing that tonight and see what I have, that’s a good idea. Thank you.

So I took the MC off and did a complete re-bleed of it and put it back on. I went through and tightened all the fittings up too. I decided to go with the Motive power bleeder since I couldn't find anyone with a strong enough leg to pump the brakes for me continually.

Well it finally bled and I was able to get the rear brakes working fine.
Thanks so much for all your help.

Corey

I may need one of those power bleeders. Have a 46 CJ-2A I did a conversion on and had trouble bleeding the brakes.
