Rear Axle Options - ‘73 Travelall

Hey all,

Been working on breathing life back into this old 1973 Travelall 1110 4x4, 392 V8 with a spicer 44 w/ 3.73 gears. Pulled it out of a forest in Williams, AZ last year where it was sitting since 1998. I’ve been working through installing a CPT lift kit which has been awesome but hit a snag. The rear axle I have is severely bent. I thought it was just axle bearings before but definitely bent axle now that I have everything together and measured the tubes. Are there any other beefier affordable options out there? Was wondering about a 14 bolt Chevy or something. Concerned about this rebending if I try to straighten it.

Dana 60's were an option in these rigs.
Yes but they used the same Dana 44 axle tubes.

Zwaylo - We can build you a Ford 9" rear axle for this or a Dana 60 (with larger than stock axle tubes). Doing this will keep the wheel bolt pattern matching front to rear. A GM 14bolt is a good option but they are 8 lug so you would either need to carry two spare tires or change to eight lug outers up front to match.

I’d much rather keep to the stock bolt pattern as I like the turbine wheels. That’s awesome, I’ll give you guys a call this week Jeff
