Re: IH Only North Fuel Systems Shop
I am digging into the parts vehicle and finding out that I'd much rather have the 345/t19w in my driveable '77 rig. Since I'm ultimately working towards this goal, I am very interested in the carter tq rebuilding you've got listed above. After reading deep into Holley and their modular carb design principles, I would prefer to try and set one of these up in the distant future, but that would require a 'square' bore manifold, or a two-barrel manifold for a 345, depending on the carburetor - neither of which I have.
So since I am committed immediately to this thermoquad and the spreadbore intake it comes with, I have a question. What should I do with this carburetor while I wait on the day where I can ship it to oregon? Box it up? Seran wrap it to death? Leave it plugged into the manifold and under the air cleaner?
I still have to verify the motor isn't out of life, and seeing that my manifold lived with an open hole on the #8 runner, I'm scared of what cancer May be lurking in the dark. At least this one isn't my "prime mover" and I can break it down without worrying about buying a whole new gasket set and reassembling on a time schedule. But all that has to wait on an engine stand, and a cleared-out spot in the old milkbarn for some engine to sit.
