Re: 63' Scout 80

Any news on the gas tank? What sender unit does it use. A little off the subject......do you have a replacement fuel guage that can be installed in the origanal 80 guage pod and works off the origanal side tanks?

My fuel system on my 64 is garbage.....one tank, no guage. Need to do some metal work so that I can put the other tank in.

Re: 63' Scout 80

Nothing new as the money is not there to mass produce these. Get me ten orders and then I can do something about them. As for the sending unit they are a universal version designed to work with both the fuel tank and the Scout.

Re: 63' Scout 80

You're confused. I said we offer a universal sending unit, not a gauge. The sending unit can be found on our online store.

Re: 63' Scout 80

lyle describes a workaround for retaining the oem look but having a functional fuel gauge pod in this thread:

http://www.forums.IHPartsAmerica.com/electrical-tech/2185-gauges-lindas-lrw.html

As mentioned in the thread Mike referred to, the temp gauge runs in the upper end of the range with the standard 80 sender. I had planned on looking for a sender better matched to the new gauge, but have not at this point. It's on the list...............

Also, the temp gauge is reversed (hot and cold are opposite of the markings on the cover plate). I just used a label maker with black tape and changed the h & c.

To emphasis, if you go this route, run a ground wire from the pod to a good ground point. The screws holding the pod to the dash is not good enough.

Re: 63' Scout 80

Sorry Jeff.....my bad. I havent jumped into the fuel level issue on it yet, but I know that my crv is toast (I watched it smoke when the alternator went) and am not sure if the sender is even hooked up on the tank.

Thanks michael......as always you are a wealth of information on the s80 crap iron systems. This is the first 80 for me that the guage cluster has issues. Guess I've been lucky through the years.
