RA15 brakes

The shoes on the ra 15 are readily available as they are used by Ford.

My problem is getting the parking brake to work.

The pb is backed off to adjust the brakes initially then the automatic adjusting mechanism 'should' keep all in good shape. However, I have never been able to get the parking brake to hold the 1967 1300 on anything but dead level with no wind.

Ideas? Experiences?

No experience with IH; a little with corvairs:

the "key" (for me) to brake self-adjusters is "should" as you state.

To me, the issue would be "clearance" between the shoe and the drum.

So, adjust the shoes closer to the drum - if not optimum; or add a little more "tension" to the pb cable at the "yoke".

A third / slim possiblility is that the pb cable is "stretching" due to "wear" -- had one on a corvair break -- not holding enough "tension"?.

Another "thought" - "harder" to adjust pb if drums have been turned down the max amount???
