Quick Fresh air vent question

I was wondering where does the fresh air vents get its air? The po on my 74 basicly filled the cavity behind the vent with foam. I cleaned alot of it out but still no air. I also installed a pass. Side fresh air vent but did not drive it. Put a trouble light in the cavity did not really see its intake. Is it in the cowling?

The oval holes in the windshield cowl. You need to pull the valance infront of the windshield cowl and clear out any and all debris, there will probably be a shit ton of it.

Thanks Chad, the passenger side (the new one) works great. I pull the valance and see what I can find.
