questions about part interchange

Hey guys, found a 76 s2 in the bone yard in atlanta. Its a 2wd 4 cyl. Was wondering if the front hubs are the same as the 4x4. They appear as such ,minus the lock hub. It seems the calipers and rotors are alike also. Was mainly concerned with the the front springs. Was thinkin that since they been carryin a 4 banger rather than an sv they might be in better shape than mine are.if anyone thinks of anything else that will swap over let me know I would appreciate it this things been picked pretty clean but all the suspension is there and the rear step bumper.

Imho used leaf springs are just that -- used springs....

Given the "labor", I do not know how much you would gain putting 30 year old springs on your vehicle -- my opinion, of course.

The "spring rating" for the front springs on a sii with a 4-banger May be slightly different than a sii with a v-8 -- since there is a couple hundred pounds difference in the front weight.

Checking the gvw on the data plate and comparing it to the gvw of your Scout May give you an idea.

Otherwise, it would probably take a parts book / LST to figure out. Just depends on how "granular" (how many different springs) IH made the springs for siis...

Of course, many people will probably disagree about my preference for using new springs.

I dont disagree Robert but I can get the springs for 20 bucks the labor is me and you know we dont count lol. Just hate to see good stuff go to the chinese to make cheap stuff to sell back to us.

Yup the 2wd wheel end stuff is the same except for a steel plate where the locking hub or drive flange would be and a plug where the axle shaft would go through the spindle.

The springs are the same as well, as all 76 were equipped with the 3100lb springs frt and rear to avoid the catalytic converter requirement for vehicles with less than 6,000 gvw.
